Ziya Kalkavan Anatolian Maritime Vocational High School Alumni Association
The Association, whose Board of Founders was determined in September 2003, organized Term Meetings. In this way, the formation of the base is completed. The first step towards becoming an association was taken with the "Unification Day", which was prepared and held with the participation of graduates in December 2003. Ziya Kalkavan Anatolian Maritime Vocational High School Alumni Association was officially established in February 2004. Since the day it was founded, it has been carrying out activities that has contributed to the maritime profession.
Activities of the Association
“Alumni Association- Student Panel has been organized by the association. This event took place in the Barbaros Conference Hall within the school. Vice-Chairman Emrah Demir, Aydın Harun Güneysu, and Burak Aşık from the board of directors of the association took part in the panel. Apart from these names, school administrators, teachers and students also took part in the panel. Prepared by the members of Ziya Kalkavan Anatolian Maritime Vocational High School Alumni Association, “The oldest temple of the Turkish Civil Naval Navy; Video-slide shows with the theme "Ortaköy" and "The importance of maritime customs-traditions" were presented in this panel. With this panel event, it was conveyed that Ortaköy is a building that has served the maritime community since 1927. It was conveyed to the students who continue their education at the school that it is one of the leading institutions in this sense and has made significant contributions to Turkish maritime. Besides, the importance of maritime customs and traditions, which are on the decline these days, was explained. Alumni Association reminded students about this issue. The importance of the current brother-sister relationship in the development of maritime customs and traditions was also conveyed to the students.
Ziya Kalkavan Anatolian Maritime Vocational High School Alumni Association and ITU Cooperation
Every year, the association holds a meeting of alumni with intense participation. In the last alumni meeting, the name of the school was changed to "ITU Vocational and Technical Anatolian High School" with the mutual understanding between Istanbul Technical University and the Ministry of Education. Within the scope of this news, situations such as opening departments other than maritime to high school have come to the fore. During this cooperation process, she will continue her Maritime training in Ortaköy (Taşmektep) , which is one of the important structures of Turkish Maritime with its 92-year history. Ziya Kalkavan Anatolian Maritime Vocational High School Graduates Association will continue to support the sector to continue to train successful seafarers without leaving the foundation of the high school.
